4 key steps for women to achieve retirement security

Donald M. Fink has over 40 years’ experience in helping clients with investments and increasing their retirement portfolio. Women compared to men have a total opposite view on retirement. Most of the time, women are considered conservative and do take less risks toward their overall retirement. Over the years, we have identified four key steps that women can take to achieve retirement security.

  1. Do not think less of your savings account
Women in general, beat themselves because they think that they are saving less for their retirement. However, the truth is, women need a little more for their long-term retirement.
  2. Map your long and short-term goals
Women have the tendency to avoid mapping out their short-term and long-term financial goals. The reason is because this task is overwhelming regardless of gender. The key is to work on each process individually and not rush the process. The key is being in the “mindset of retirement and visualizing what their retirement looks like”.
  3. Savings and Spending Plan
Knowing your spending plan is as important as your savings plan. Depending on your current lifestyle, you have factor in whether this type of lifestyle will continue as you reach your retirement age. IF so, having a solid savings plan to compliment your spending is key. Consider how you spend and the plan to save will automatically work its way out.
  4. Know your retirement risks
There is no guarantee that stocks, bonds or mutual funds will always perform the way they should. However, choosing the right type of funds helps you determine the performance associated with your retirement funds.
